National Hurricane Preparedness Week

National Hurricane Preparedness Week

This week (May 5 through 11) is Hurricane Preparedness Week in preparation for the Atlantic hurricane season beginning on June 1. FEMA is partnered with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to increase public awareness and preparation for the approaching hurricane season.

The week includes the Hurricane Awareness Tour (HAT), an integral part of an annual campaign to raise public awareness and preparation for the approaching hurricane season.

In addition to the tour, FEMA and NOAA are asking for your help to increase awareness and to motivate individuals, families, businesses and communities to know their risk, get prepared and stay informed before hurricane season. Visit the Hurricane Seasonal Preparedness Digital Toolkit to find resources to aid in spreading the word.

The 2019 Hurricane Preparedness daily themes are located here. To help your constituents be prepared for hurricanes, please encourage them to visit the Ready website to learn how to prepare before, during and after a hurricane.
