Dear APWA member,

This week the Senate is expected to vote on critical water infrastructure legislation, S. 914, the Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act (DWWIA). As public works professionals you are all aware of the need for investment in our water and wastewater systems. APWA is urging senators to pass this legislation, but we need your help as their constituents – please take a few minutes to send a pre-generated email to your U.S. Senators asking them to support S. 914. Our goal is for at least 500 APWA members to contact your U.S. Senators to ensure this important bill passes.

S. 914 is a bipartisan bill advanced out of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee in a unanimous vote. If enacted into law, DWWIA would authorize $35 billion over 5 years for water resource development. Among other important provisions, the bill would reauthorize key financing programs (including Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Funds as well as Water Infrastructure Finance Innovation Act loans) and make public works agencies eligible for federal grants aimed at developing the water workforce.

You can read APWA’s full letter of support here. As public works professionals, you are engaged in safeguarding public health through the provision of clean drinking water and appropriate treatment of wastewater. APWA needs you to use this unique perspective to voice the need for investment in the construction and maintenance of our water infrastructure. Please use the link below to urge your U.S. Senators to pass this key legislation!
